Five movable chord shapes used for fretboard navigation
The CAGED system uses five large movable chord shapes — drawn from the open C, A, G, E, and D major triads — as landmarks for navigating the guitar fretboard. Move a shape so its lowest note becomes an F, for example, and you have one of five ways to play F major.
NoSheet takes a different approach. It uses many smaller shapes within a single octave and trains awareness of each degree relative to the root. The shapes are far too numerous to memorize, which is the point: you learn to build them from their degrees on the fly, chain them together, and apply them to any noteset at once.
