Chord

A chord is multiple notes played at the same time. Every chord is a noteset, defined by a root and the intervals above it. The simplest are the major and minor triads of three notes; adding a fourth note forms a major 7th, dominant 7th, or minor 7th tetrad. The way a chord's notes are arranged on an instrument is its voicing.
